Established an internal performance improvement team for a top tier global oil and gas super major, which evolved into the Company’s asset value optimization and governance organization.
Business Overview:
A leading vertically-integrated energy group which is active in every area of the oil and gas value chain, including exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation, clean energy, renewables and trading.
Challenge Faced:
Diverse portfolio of global operating companies with no structured approach for assessing financial, operational or commercial performance. Specifically, there was no capability to identify, quantify and improve specific value levers in a sustainable way.
Solution Developed:
Established a performance improvement team to systematically review and assess portfolio businesses, using a stage gate methodology tied to a value optimization and governance board.
Realized Benefit:
>USD $2B in opportunities were realized in 5 years. Sources of value include revenue, pricing & margin, RevEx, OpEx (base and variable), CapEx for new project development, working capital and tax. OP led effort to build and develop in-house team with significantly enhanced capability from 4 to 120 professionals

Lack of employee performance evaluation process, not conducting performance annual review and lacking a meritocracy culture.

Conducted organizational assessment for inter-company synergy. Rationalized to a single leadership team. Created clear and concise objectives & key results (OKRs). Established performance contracts, with both qualitative and quantitative metrics. Administered annual performance reviews with employee input and manager feedback, with action plans for improvement areas.

Assisted an underperforming & negative cash flow F&B outlet in Singapore reposition their operations to focus on execution and profitability, enabling them to develop a strategic plan for growth.

A unique ethnic cuisine concept restaurant had successfully established an anchor restaurant in a leading tourist center and then slowly built kiosks along high traffic areas within Singapore. A centralized kitchen was established to reduce overheads and focus on quality and throughput. The business was looking to expand the kiosk concept across South East Asia.
Challenge Faced:
The client had core competencies with respect to ingredients, cuisine as well as brand and outlet marketing, however lacked basic business management skills to structure for scalable growth. At the time of engagement, there was no strategic plan in place.
Solution Developed:
Operating Partners led weekly meetings with operations team to focus & drive execution efforts. This resulted in increased profitability. In parallel Operating Partners worked with the senior directors to develop the strategic plan and created a created a private placement memorandum for private equity funding

Asia’s premier full scope services team, supporting sailboats and super yachts across the region. The company offers a wide range of services covering all major marinas and needs of yacht owners.
Challenge Faced:
The business lacked operational and financial controls. There was no formal process for planning and executing work orders (quoting, servicing, invoicing). Work was performed with no records, which translated into lost margin and poor billing practices.
Solution Developed:
Operating Partners introduced controls and processes to track information, improve resource allocation, and increase operational efficiency. These operational improvements were coupled with greater controls and management on the financial side, which enabled the business to transition from a loss making environment to profit and positive cash generating.

Designed and implemented an enterprise data warehouse, a master data management system and an investment reporting platform.
Realized Benefit:
A single version of the truth with aligned decision making process across the organization for improved analytical capability for all investment decisions. 30% data processing improvement yielding ‘days-to-report’ accurate portfolio performance reduction from 45 to 7 days and an 86% increase in ad-hoc analysis performance. Also created a ‘next day reporting estimates’ for added risk assessment capability for the fund’s special situations.

A local high-end brewery was established to cater to the growth of the emerging middle class in Cambodia, which is also now one of Southeast Asia’s premier travel destinations.
Challenge Faced:
Following the product launch, financial resources were immediately constrained as there was no visibility or focus on forward looking KPIs. In addition there were no market or customer feedback metrics to track and monitor the sales performance.
Solution Developed:
Implemented financial and operational KPIs while establishing routine financial processes, including general reporting, with specific focus on sales and cash forecasting.

Business Overview:
A leading medical device developer and manufacturer dedicated to advancing healthcare worldwide by developing & marketing medical products that help improve safety and effectiveness of patient care.
Challenge Faced:

Solution Developed:
Supply Chain assessment conducted of both the organization and operations, which examined gaps in the company’s ability to meet customer required delivery dates. Lean events yielded work stream and value stream analyses that reduced cycle times, rationalized inventory and increased on-time delivery capability.
Realized Benefit:
End-to-End supply chain optimization with identified throughput productivity = $1.1m (+10%), inventory reduction = $2.8m (-28%) and cost of capital savings = $265k (~7%). Supply chain team provided tools and training to further identify and quantify project opportunities with execution capability to execute on results delivery.

Identified areas of improvement in across manufacturing operations to enable scale domestic and export volume while not sacrificing key competitive advantage of custom make-to-order configurations.

Clean-tech lighting company, that provides one-stop solution for illumination products – from design, manufacture & installation through to logistics & after-sale services.

Unique business model resulted in low volume / high mix SKUs for customers, which created manufacturing inefficiency. Operations was incorrectly set-up as a make-to-order facility requiring frequent tooling and die change over, creating growth constraints.
Solution Developed:
Completed a detailed data driven analysis of their manufacturing operations and performed an assessment on the financial profitability by product lines, inventory class and line throughput.
